So the first session has been a success. The daunting prospect of teaching 4 more senior members of staff was just that, a prospect. The reality was a dynamic, interactive session in which all four were receptive, critical and positive. Allowing plenty of time for coaching skills practice after break proved essential, so I’ve planned the second session to build on this.
Some really positive feedback was filtered back to me by a colleague, who told me that the programme had been mentioned at a recent meeting of the College Observation Team.
- Meet up with LB again to discuss the response (or lack of same) to her ideas for coaching.
- Alternatively, flag this up at the next coaching session.
- Extend the programme to more staff.
- Pick the brains of @JoanneMiles2 about setting up coaching schemes within colleges.
